POSTED: 23/07/2024
On Sunday, June 30th, Heritage Healthcare Windsor hosted a free Dementia virtual tour to raise awareness and educate the community about Dementia and available care.
Our free Dementia Virtual Tour event held on Sunday, June 30th, turned out a fabulous success story. The whole experience of the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus was amazing and the whole event raised awareness or the condition and helped to educate the wider Windsor community about Dementia and available care and support available to sufferers.
Funded entirely by Heritage Healthcare Windsor as part of their commitment to giving back to the community, the event aimed to foster understanding and empathy for individuals living with Dementia.
What is Dementia Care?

Prabjot Dhillon – Managing Director of Heritage Healthcare
The day began with an interesting and informative talk by Prabjot Dhillon, Managing Director of Heritage Healthcare in Windsor. Prabjot focussed on the the intricacies of specialist Dementia care and how we can support individuals in achieving desired outcomes.
“Experiencing what it is like as the individual living with dementia and how simple things can become so much harder. I feel that every person who loves/cares for someone with dementia should experience the bus.” – Carla Birt
Immersive Virtual Dementia Tour

Training for the Team
Later came the highlight of the day and the immersive virtual Dementia tour. Conducted inside a specially designed bus, the tour provided a unique, first hand experience of what it feels like to live with Dementia, showcasing its varied and complex nature.

Support and Engagement from Dedicated Carers
Throughout the event, we there were many dedicated carers around to offer support. Everyone enjoyed refreshments, socialising, and sharing experiences with eachother. The carers were fantastic, interacting with everyone, answering questions, and providing their professional insights. They created a supportive and informative environment that made the event truly special for everyone.
“I participated in so many events in my life. Here I would like to say a special thanks to Heritage Healthcare Windsor, who organised an event on dementia. It was a great experience in my life, and it was my first event in the UK. I learnt a plethora of new things related to dementia, that would go a long way. The bus experience will remain with me for life as it showed me the feelings of someone living with dementia.” – Rajinder
Positive Impact and Community Feedback

“A very interesting experience. Will always remember this and know better how to help someone with Dementia. Definitely something you should continue doing.”
Just some of the great feedback we received:

“Thank you for organising this experience!” Kindest regards, Vicky
