  • 1955

    A Heritage of Care Begins

    • Glenn Pickersgill’s grandmother, Annie, establishes a care home, Roxby House, in Darlington, County Durham.
    • Glenn spends his childhood engaging with and entertaining the residents, shaping his commitment to the care industry
  • 1970’s

    The Next Generation

    • On her retirement, Annie passes Roxby House Care Home to Marion and Jim, Glenn’s parents
    • Three years later, Marion and Jim expand their business to take over Rosebank Nursing Home on Abbey Road, Darlington.
    • In 1976 they take over the operation of Larchfield House Nursing Home from Durham County Council

    1970’s

  • 1980’s

    Taking the Lead

    • Marion and Jim purchase Stanton Hall Residential Home in Darlington
    • Glenn joins the family business and buys Harewood Lodge
    • In 1985 Marion and Jim along with Glenn amalgamate all operations under the “Supreme Care Homes” banner
    • The late 1980’s saw them add to their portfolio with Thornville Residential Home on Trinity Road Darlington
    • Also joining the group was Ventress Hall, situated adjacent to Stanton Hall and Thornville, an ambitious New Build project for Glenn and his parents
  • 1990’s

    Growth and Consolidation

    • The close of the 1980’s saw the business consolidate with Rosebank closing and Harewood Lodge being sold
    • Larchfield House was returned to the management of Durham Council Council
    • The 1990’s saw the retirement of Marion and Jim and ownership of the business passing entirely to Glenn
    • The business comprised Ventress Hall, a 44 bed Nursing Home and Stanton Hall, and Thornville with 66 Residential Care places
    • Amanda Jackson first joined the team in 1993 as a Care Assistant
    • Glenn purchased The Terrace Care Home in Richmond where he was first joined by Michelle Fenwick

    1990’s

  • 2000’s

    Big Changes

    • Glenn expanded the business in 2002 with the purchase of Kings Court Care Home in Barnard Castle, a residential home
    • Between 2006 and 2008 the business moved entirely into providing Home Care (Domiciliary Care) and exited the care home sector
    • 2008 saw the purchase, by Glenn and his wife Sally, of DCS&D Ltd, a home care business based in Guisborough
    • Amanda Jackson re-joined the business, bringing along, once again, her wealth of experience and knowledge in the sector
    • 2008 – THE BIRTH OF HERITAGE HEALTHCARE
    • In 2009 DCS&D won a contract with Darlington Borough Council and Michelle Fenwick rejoined the business
  • 2010 - 2019

    Franchising the Brand

    • Heritage Healthcare York was established in 2011
    • 2013 – HERITAGE HEALTHCARE FRANCHISING IS LAUNCHED
    • The brand is franchised under the leadership of Michelle Fenwick
    • Heritage Healthcare Cardiff becomes the first Franchisee of the new Network in August 2014
    • Awards follow with the Franchising Team winning Emerging Franchisor of the Year at the BFA Awards in 2017
    • Further success comes in Encouraging Women into Franchising Awards and Wakefield Business Awards
    • Two more awards were secured in 2019; Best National Support Team and Most Outstanding Home Care Team
    • The Franchise Network continued to grow becoming one of the Top 10 Home Care Franchising Opportunities

    2010 - 2019

  • 2020 - 2022

    Exceptional Team Work

    • 2020 saw the emergence of Covid 19 and subsequent lockdowns and quarantine procedures
    • A huge team effort ensured all clients and staff were kept safe during the pandemic with additional safety protocols implemented and strict adherence to all guidelines, rules and requirements by the entire Heritage Healthcare network
    • Even during difficult times the Franchise Network continued to grow and stood at 14 locations throughout the UK at the end of 2022
  • 2023

    Strategic Expansion and Improvements

    • Heritage Healthcare North East expands its operations into the North Yorkshire areas of Northallerton and Richmond
    • Heritage Healthcare York widens its service area further North
    • The Franchise Network is bolstered by the addition of Wandsworth
    • A new website is launched to reflect the ambitions of the business and service its franchisees to a high standard

    • Ambitious plans to build an even stronger brand that Franchisees love and want to buy into
    • Continuous improvement of services to all clients
    • Ensuring a happy and engaged workforce
    • Welcome to the Team – Heritage Healthcare North Tyneside & South Northumberland
    • Heritage Healthcare Cheadle & Wilmslow come onboard
    • New franchise in Leicester opens June 2024
