St. Teresa's Charity Golf Day: 'Weapons of Grass Destruction' Team Clinches Victory
POSTED: 28/02/2024
Finally the Winning Team receive their trophy for their triumph in the Annual St Teresa's Hospice Annual Golf event held on 1st September 2023.
St. Teresa’s Charity Golf Day, organised by Sally and Glenn Pickersgill of Heritage Healthcare, celebrated another successful year of fundraising for St. Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington. The event, which has been a staple since 2002, saw the ‘Weapons of Grass Destruction’ Team, comprising Alex Taylor-Garthwaite, Julian Cound, Ben Raw, and Tim Hollinshead, emerge as the winners.
The annual golf day, held at Blackwell Grange Golf Club, has become a significant fundraiser for the hospice, with over £250,000 raised to date. This year’s event was no exception, with a total of £14,822.92 raised, thanks to the generosity of participants and sponsors.

After a few logistic hurdles and lots of busy schedules to accommodate, Alex Taylor-Garthwaite and Julian Cound were presented with the winning trophy at the offices of Heritage Healthcare. Their victory not only symbolises their skill on the golf course but also their commitment to supporting a worthy cause.
Looking ahead, the organisers are already gearing up for next year’s event, scheduled for Friday, September 6th 2024. Once again, Blackwell Grange Golf Club will play host to a day of friendly competition and charitable giving with an evening auction and a great raffle.
The success of St. Teresa’s Charity Golf Day is a testament to the community’s dedication to making a difference in the lives of those in need. With each swing of the club, participants and supporters alike are helping to provide vital care and support to patients and families at St. Teresa’s Hospice.
As we celebrate this year’s winners and the funds raised, let us also look forward to the continued success of this cherished event in the years to come.
