Visit Altrincham is thrilled to announce that Heritage Healthcare Trafford and Cheshire has claimed the top prize in the competition, with Altrincham Barbers Shop as a very close runner-up. The competition was tough, with numerous businesses showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm for the upcoming cycling extravaganza.
Heritage Healthcare’s Stunning Display Takes the Top Spot
The whole Heritage team was overjoyed by their victory, with Joely Sant from Heritage Healthcare Trafford and Cheshire expressing their excitement, saying, “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Altrincham Cycle-themed window competition. The Trafford Team receive their award for the Best Tour of Britain Shop Front Display
Mandy Cooke, scenic designer at Altrincham Garrick Playhouse, had the challenging task of judging the windows. She was impressed by Heritage Healthcare’s display, which she described as “a great journey set within the Altrincham landscape.” The window featured nods to the town’s iconic market, clock tower, and trams, with cyclists cleverly integrated into the wheel spokes. One highlight was the glorious floral display featuring an outdoor bike and a commode, adding a whimsical touch to the scene.

Altrincham Barbers Shop: Runner-Up for Creativity
Altrincham Barbers Shop secured the runner-up position, earning praise for their creativity and their interpretation of what the bike race represents. Mandy Cooke commended their “homegrown” efforts, which featured 3D and tactile qualities. The window also showcased photographic insights into onion sellers and included life-size human elements of cyclists, adding a unique and engaging touch.
A Showcase of Creativity and Imagination
Mandy Cooke expressed her admiration for the creativity and imagination demonstrated by all the competition entries. She particularly enjoyed Two Brothers Coffee’s bold rainbow concept, calling it a strong and fun statement. Additionally, she highlighted Stamford Quarter’s window with its wobbly tarmac road, which she found immediately relatable, especially to children.
Mandy also gave a nod to McHale & Co Solicitors for their “deconstructed” bike installation, applauding their innovative approach to the competition theme.
A Community Effort: Congratulations to All Participants
In closing, Mandy Cooke congratulated all the businesses that participated in the competition, praising their collective contribution to making the Tour of Britain Grand Départ a fantastic event for the town. Their imaginative and spirited window displays added to the excitement and buzz in Altrincham as the town embraced the cycling spectacle.
