On Friday 21st June we attended the Dementia Roadshow. Organised by Cramlington Town Council and the Post Diagnostic Old Adult Community Treatment Team, the event took place at the Manor Walks Shopping Centre with the aim of raising awareness and providing crucial support for those affected by dementia.
A Collaborative Effort
The Roadshow brought together over 20 organisations dedicated to supporting individuals and families dealing with dementia. Notable participants included Age UK and the Alzheimer’s Society, each offering valuable resources and information.
Engaging Performances and Activities

Performance of the short play ‘Wor Grannie Joyce’

Music performance by the Santy Singers
One of the highlights of the event was a performance of the short play ‘Wor Grannie Joyce,’ written by Sarah O’Brien and Clairey Bass. The play provided a heartfelt portrayal of the challenges and experiences of those living with dementia, resonating deeply with the audience. Additionally, the Shanty Singers entertained attendees with their lively music, creating an engaging and supportive atmosphere.
Our Role and Reflections
As attendees, we had the opportunity to connect with various organisations and learn more about the resources available for dementia care in our local area. The event reinforced the importance of community support and collaboration in addressing the needs of those affected by dementia.
