Enhancing Skills with Food Hygiene and Meal Preparation Training
POSTED: 02/07/2024
Recently, we conducted Food Hygiene and Meal Preparation training for all our staff to ensure we provide the highest quality of care for our clients.
At Heritage Healthcare (Milton Keynes), we are dedicated to ensuring our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional care to our clients. On the 27th of June, we took another step in this direction by conducting an engaging Food Hygiene and Meal Preparation training session.
Embracing British Culture
Understanding and respecting the cultural background of our clients is a crucial part of delivering personalised care. During the training, we aimed to familiarise our staff with traditional British cuisine. The session included hands-on experience in preparing a classic British favourite – the bacon roll.
Comprehensive Training for Quality Care

Food hygiene and proper meal preparation are fundamental when supporting clients, especially when it comes to meeting the nutritional and hydration needs of our clients. Our training covered essential topics such as:
- Food Safety Practices: Ensuring that all food is prepared and stored safely to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.
- Meal Preparation Techniques: Teaching the correct methods for preparing and cooking food to maintain nutritional value and taste.
Hands-On Learning Experience

The live cooking class was a highlight of the training session. Our staff had the opportunity to learn by doing, which is an effective way to retain information and skills. By preparing bacon rolls, they not only practised cooking but also learned about portion control, presentation, and serving techniques.
