Heritage Healthcare Bristol: Going The Extra Mile
POSTED: 26/01/2024
Carer Tamu and service user Philip visit a local craft shop in Thornbury.
At Heritage Healthcare Bristol, helping our clients to enjoy their hobbies and interests is a key part of the service we provide.
Meet Philip. Philip is one of several clients we have helped in this way. A gentleman of many talents, Philip plays the harp and guitar, he used to be in a male voice choir, and he is an avid reader. However, one of his more unique interests is that following his retirement he has taught himself to weave and he now produces a fantastic array of scarves and cot blankets, from his own loom.

Due to being less mobile lately, visiting craft fairs, to socialise and show his creations, has become more of a challenge. So, after hearing of a craft shop in nearby town Thornbury, Philip was keen to find out if they would provide him some space to sell his wares.

After hearing this information, one of our carers, Tamu, spent the morning driving Philip over to Thornbury to visit Castle Craft Gifts Shop armed with plenty of samples of his brightly coloured handiwork.

Afterwards, as a treat Tamu asked Philip where he would like to go for lunch and they both headed to the Tesoro Lounge in Thornbury for a one of the best burgers Philip had tasted in a long time!
Thanks to our lovely carer Tamu for opting to be a chauffer for the day! Here at Heritage Healthcare Bristol we are always willing to go the extra mile for our clients.
