The care team at Heritage Healthcare York worked hard throughout 2019 to provide high-quality care to clients within their own homes. To show their appreciation for the support they have all provided, the management team hosted a special party to celebrate the Carers of the Year.
The evening’s party saw members of the care team enjoying pizza and drinks at the Heritage Healthcare York office where they could enjoy time together and a catch up with colleagues. They also played a game of bingo, with carer Rob Lees and son, Oliver, winning a chocolate treat.
The awards ceremony started with a few light-hearted awards and the first winner of the evening was Alex Edgar, who won ‘Finished Before She’s Started’, followed by ‘Most Breakages’ which was won by Lynne Shively. Angela Myers took home the ‘Most Breakdowns’ award whilst Marie West won ‘The Biggest Phone Bill’.
The ‘Most Reliable’ award went jointly to Stacy Lees and Becky Innes, for giving 100% attendance over the past year and for covering care visits when a colleague was unavailable. Katie Padley won the award for ’Festive Carer’ due to her contribution around the Christmas period; Katie worked on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve to support clients.
As voted for by the care team, Rob Lees was awarded ‘Carer of the Year’. His fellow colleagues said the reasons he won was because of his calm approach, his knowledge of providing care, how he takes on extra responsibilities and for how he went out of his way to support a late client’s husband following her passing away.
The clients of the Heritage Healthcare York were also asked to vote for the carer who deserved the ‘Extra Mile’ award and it was Bernard Tetteh-Kumah who took home the prize. Many clients who voted for Bernard commented on how he was always full of fun and efficient, always goes the extra mile to support them, how he works his calls around what is best for the client, and for his constant cheerfulness and attitude that can only be experienced between ex-service personnel.
The care team enjoyed a fantastic evening together, celebrating all their achievements from 2019. We want to say thank you to each member of the Heritage Healthcare York team for the fantastic support and high-quality care you provide to our clients to help them remain independent at home for longer.
