Winter is fast approaching; the temperature is becoming colder and the nights are drawing in much sooner.
Now is the time to be ready for what the winter months may bring. We have put together a handy checklist to make sure you and your loved ones are prepared for the coming winter months.
Make sure your home is at the right temperature; your living room should be 21°C, bedrooms at 18°C and the rest of the house at 16°C. Ensure your heating system is working and place draught excluders to stop the warmth from escaping.
Get your flu vaccination! If you are aged over 65, have certain health conditions, are a primary caregiver or employed as a carer, or if you’re classed as being a high risk to coronavirus, you will be entitled to a free flu vaccination. The vaccination protects you from influenza, and the UK continues to battle COVID-19, it is now more important than ever to keep yourself safe from seasonal illnesses.
You should also make sure you have cold and flu remedies and other medicines in case cold-like symptoms occur. It’s a good idea to order your regular prescriptions in good time, as many doctor’s surgeries and pharmacies close earlier during the holiday season.
If you have a car, ensure you have essentials ready in case of an accident or breakdown. Ensure you have topped up the water for window wipers and check the anti-freeze in the car engine.
As the UK government guidelines of COVID-19 restrictions on a national and local level are continually changing, making sure you are following the appropriate guidelines is important; click here to find out the restrictions in England and click here to find ou the restrictions in Wales.
