It’s because of the dedication volunteers and fundraiser put into raising money for the charity that they can continue with the research the conduct, the support they provide and be a helping hand to different people. Everyone has a chosen charity that has a place in their own heart, based on their own experiences or what they believe in.
September is filled with awareness and charity days, so why not get involved and support your chosen charity? Below are a few ideas we have put together to inspire you.
Coffee Morning – this month will see the return of Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 28th September. It doesn’t matter how big of an event you host, you could invite friends and family to join you in your living room and have a catch up, host it in your office or book out the local community centre for your neighbours. A coffee morning gives everyone a chance to relax with a hot drink and a cake for a good cause.
Bake Sale – if you’re a keen baker, a bake sale would be perfect to show off what you can create. Take you bake sale on a mini-road trip around your local community, perhaps pop in to a few shops and tempt their staff members with a tasty treat.
Sponsored walk/jog/run – for those who are active, getting out and about it perfect to raise a few pennies for a favourite charity. Ask friends and family to sponsor you per lap of the park, or mile if you’re a keen walker/runner. Not only are you supporting a good cause, you’ll be keeping yourself fit and healthy.
Auction or raffle – if you have a few good connections in your local community, ask them to donate a prize to be won. Prizes could be a meal for 2, a spa treatment or even a holiday if you ask nicely. Host a special event (or take it online and use social media), inviting the local community and all the money raised will go to an important cause.
Party/silent disco/fancy dress – host a party for your family, friends and local community. It could be themed around an era, have a unique idea such as a silent disco, or be a fancy dress with prizes to the best costume. The perfect excuse for a night out with friends!
Donating – if you don’t have time on your side to plan and fund-raise for an event, simply donating to your chosen charity is perfect. It could be clothing you don’t wear, items you don’t need or even just your time, charities will be grateful for your support.
If you are interested in support your local charity, please get in touch with them and ask how you can help.
