The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many careers; whether you have started to work from home or have been unable to carry out your usual role, we will have all seen a change in our daily work-life.
During the UK-wide ‘lockdown’, a lot of people have been placed on furlough and have taken up temporary roles to gain extra income and to support their wider community. For others, they may have been made redundant or, due to the nature of their role, are unable to work until 2021. Some people may now be considering taking a new career path, looking for opportunities where they can help their local community.
Perhaps a role as a Home Carer is right for you?
The pandemic has shown how vital Care Assistants are to keeping the nation going. As the nation has stayed inside to protect themselves, the country’s keyworkers have continued to provide essential services.
Home care allows older or vulnerable people to stay living at home for longer with support from a care team. In later life, moving into a care home was the first option, but more people are now wanting to stay in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by their treasured memories.
Support with daily tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation and laundry as well as help with personal care helps many people stay at home. For people with complex needs, for example, dementia, Parkinson’s or the after-effects of a stroke, the support from a carer encourages independence and comfort.
When we recruit new carers onto the Heritage Healthcare team, we look for individuals who are compassionate, professional, and dedicated to delivering a person-centred service. Our clients build a trusted friendship with their care team, so being able to provide bespoke care in a dignified and sensitive manner is important. To visit our clients and maybe take them out into the community, we require our care team to have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
If you are currently looking for a new career opportunity, one that is rewarding and provides training, become a Heritage Healthcare carer!
