What it means to provide care with digntiy

Dignity is at the heart of the services we provide at Heritage Healthcare. From the moment they join our team, our carers are trained in the various aspects of care to deliver a person-centred service.

It’s our focus to provide a home care and support service that is trusted by our clients and helps them to remain living in the comfort of their own home for longer. Each care plan is bespoke to the individual, tailored to their needs, wishes and requirements, and with that, we make sure our team of carers can support clients to their fullest ability.

Throughout training, our care team discuss and learn how to provide dignity through the care they provide to help clients feel comfortable and independent. These care services include:

Personal Care – for some, accepting support with personal care can be difficult. Our care team are highly trained to ensure every individual receives personal care in a dignified and respectable manner. We match our clients with a carer they can build a trusted friendship with and receive support with dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, drinking and taking prescribed medications.

Companionship – research conducted by Age UK has found over 225,000 older people often go a whole week without speaking to anyone. This lack of communication can lead to loneliness and social isolation, which can increase the risk of developing dementia, mental health issues and cardiovascular diseases. As we match our clients with a trusted carer, they can be reassured a friend will be visiting them during the day for a chat. Our companionship service allows clients to get out into their community and enjoy the activities they have always loved.

Dementia Support – seeing a loved one go through the different stages of dementia can be heart-breaking and distressing, but our care team are on hand to support in any way they can. Care plans are tailored around the individual and their requirements and are adaptable to their changing needs. Our care team are highly trained to support the varying stages of dementia and to help clients feel comfortable within their home for longer.

Palliative and End-of-Life Care – these services support those with a terminal illness or condition that has become progressive or advanced. We work with the client, their loved ones and external healthcare professionals to a create a care plan based on comfort, delivering in a person-centred, sensitive manner so families can benefit from quality time together.

The list of services we provide to our clients is by no means exhaustive as we can support clients in various ways. To find out more about how Heritage Healthcare can support you, please click here.
