Quick-Thinking Carer Seema Praised for Calm and Professional Response
POSTED: 17/03/2025
At Heritage Healthcare York, we take pride in the skill and dedication of our care team, and this week, one of our carers, Seema Niyaz, has been recognised for her swift and professional response in an unexpected situation.
Each Tuesday, our care team supports Judy to attend the Move It to Lose It exercise class. However, on Tuesday, 11th March 2025, the session took an alarming turn when Deirdre, a fellow class member, fell and hit her head on a radiator.
Seema, without hesitation, calmly leapt into action. She immediately put on her PPE, assisted Deirdre into a safe sitting position, attended to the head wound, and applied a dressing. Recognising the severity of the injury, Seema then advised Karen, the class organiser, to call an ambulance, which arrived within 45 minutes to provide further medical care.
Judy, who witnessed Seema’s response, felt her quick-thinking and professionalism deserved recognition. She later received a call from Karen, who had spoken to Deirdre, passing on her heartfelt gratitude to Seema for her support.
Both Judy and Karen personally thanked Seema, acknowledging the vital role she played in ensuring Deirdre received the care she needed. Seema, ever humble, simply stated that she was doing her duty, using her training and experience to help someone in need.
We are incredibly proud of Seema for her calm, decisive action and her dedication to care – not just for our clients but for the wider community.
Well done, Seema!
