At Heritage Healthcare Windsor, we are proud to be a part of May’s Windsor & Maidenhead Local, a local magazine created by Loca Area Ltd, with a guide to healthy eating for seniors.
The article, written by Managing Director Prabjot, provides a guide to healthy eating and the benefits it can have on our senior years, it covers what food groups are good for us and why. It also discusses portion control, diving into some tips on how to create the illusion of a fuller plate.
Hydration and Exercise
The article also covers the importance and benefits of staying hydrated, giving several options besides water to do so. Following on from this the article discusses the crucial need for physical activity in your older ages, seniors should aim to do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity in order to maintain good overall health and well-being, including appetite regulation and digestion.
Staying Socially Engaged
The significant effects of eating alone are also detailed in this article, appetite and dietary habits may be negatively impacted due to feelings of isolation. Therefore, seniors should try to enjoy meals with friends or family whenever possible.
Sharing a meal not only provides companionship but also encourages social interaction and stimulates appetite.
