September has always been a month of fundraising, whether it’s a national campaign getting people across the UK raising money or supporting a local charity close to your heart.
Not only is it Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and Vascular Disease Awareness Month, but Friday 27th September will be the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Of course, fundraising can be hosted at any point in the year, so if you want to support your chosen charity, here are a few ideas to inspire you.
Bake Sale – keen bakers (and anyone inspired by the latest series of the Great British Bake Off) can show off their baking skills and sell tasty delights for charity. Whether it be fun cupcakes, elegant slices or even savoury treats, you could sell to family and friends, your work colleagues or visit local shops to sell to their staff members.
Coffee Morning/Afternoon – coffee events give everyone a chance to relax with a cuppa and enjoy the company of friends, new and old. It could be hosted at home with your friends, family and neighbours or within a local community space to allow the wider public to visit and help raise vital funds. Local businesses and services could become involved, by providing cakes or prizes for raffles and help raise even more money.
Sponsored run – be motivated to get active by asking your friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor you to complete a walk, jog or run. They could sponsor you per lap or mile, and you could also do a sweepstake on your finishing time.
Donating – it can be tricky to find the time to plan a fundraising event; simply donating money to a charity of your choice is perfect. If there are some household items or clothes you no longer need or wear, local charity shops will highly appreciate you donating them to sell. Even having a look in the shop during your next shopping trip will help the cause, and you might find yourself a hidden treasure, too!
