Dementia can be distressing for everyone affected, but support is available to help everyone feel comfortable.
At Heritage Healthcare, we pride ourselves on delivering expert care within the home of our clients so they can remain living independently for longer. For someone living with the various stages of dementia, being surrounded by memories and treasured possessions can be important to help them feel safe.
We train our care team to the highest standard to ensure they can provide a dedicated service, bespoke to the unique needs of our clients. Care plans are tailored around the individual, working with them, their loved ones and necessary external healthcare professionals, and can be evolved alongside their changing needs.
With our care services, we can support clients living with dementia with personal care. As we are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we follow specific guidelines to ensure clients feel safe when being supported with dressing, washing, eating and drinking and taking prescribed medications. Our team treat every individual with dignity and respect to make sure they are comfortable and safe.
It’s reassuring to know a friendly face will be visiting a loved one when you are unable to. With our companionship service, our carers spend time with clients, having a chat and enjoying a cuppa together. As memory and communication can be affected by dementia, our care team will take their time with the client, encouraging clear conversation without pressure. They can also accompany clients out and about in the community to support their independence.
As dementia progresses, many people become the primary caregiver of their loved one who has been diagnosed with a form of dementia. Our respite service provides support to the primary carer, allowing them time to themselves while our care team provide the care and support already in place, whether it’s for a few hours a week or weeks at a time.
