Companionship is a basic human need and is the feeling of closeness with another person. Having a trusted companion in life prevents loneliness and social isolation, two common issues the older generation face.
At Heritage Healthcare, one of the home care services we provide is companionship. Our care team are trusted faces who visit our clients when needed and are there to have a chat and keep them company.
We work with our clients and their loved ones to deliver a service unique to their needs and wishes. For many families, just knowing someone will be popping in to see a loved one for a cup-of-tea and a chat makes a huge difference. Some families work full-time and can spend their workday worrying if a loved one is ok whilst they are alone. For other families, they live too far away to be able to drop in as frequently as they wish. Our companionship service helps many families feel reassured, knowing a trusted carer will be there to support clients.
With our companionship service, we aim to keep the mind and body active by:
- Discussing current affairs and what is happening within the local community
- Reminiscing about past events and memories
- Visiting friends and family
- Going out to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner together
- Visit local attractions and entertainment, such as the cinema or theatre
- Enjoy hobbies and crafts together, and maybe learn some new skills
- Accompanying to the local shops
We enable our clients to become more involved within their community and continue to enjoy activities with independence and safety. Our services are unique to each individual and their needs, working with everyone involved to create a care plan that is bespoke and adaptable to evolving health needs.
